Renting a boat in Thasos: what to ask

Boat rentals in Thasos are spread around the island, with operators based in the main ports and resort areas. In Limenaria, Rent a boat / Villy rents motor boats and states that no licence is required up to 30HP, with a safety briefing included; it also hosts birthdays, weddings and parties. My Boat Thassos (Rent A Boat) in Skala Potamias offers half-day or full-day rentals for up to 6 passengers, with GPS on board and boats that the operator says can be used without a licence. For sailing, Thassos Sailing in Thasos town runs trips around the island and to nearby North Aegean islands, with boats carrying a maximum of 8–10 persons. Blue Dream Cruises, also in Thasos town, handles private yacht rentals, island trips and sunset cruises, and says it helps clients plan from first contact. Elsewhere, TCH Yachting in Potos and TCH YACHTING 2 in Limenaria offer private boat rentals and tailor-made charters, while Albatross Water Sports and Boat Rentals in Pefkari is a family business that also runs boat tours. Ask each operator directly about skippered versus self-drive options, RIB availability, party use and prices, which are generally given on request.
