Renting a boat in Corfu: what to ask

Boat rentals in Corfu range from small motor boats you can drive yourself to crewed yacht charters, and where you start often depends on where you are staying. In the north-east, North Corfu Boats in Peritheia hires motor boats from 30hp to 175hp for 2 to 10 people, self-drive or with a skipper, and states that a licence is not mandatory and that free transfer is available. Down in Palaiokastritsa, Dinos Boat Rentals rents boats for a full or half day so you can explore the coast towards Liapades, its caves and bays, and swim and snorkel; the same operator also arranges private tours and special occasions such as weddings and proposals. In Corfu town, FunSea Corfu Boat Rentals offers private trips along the coast and takes online bookings, while CBR-Corfu Boat Rental, based in Gouvia, states that its boats can be used without a licence. For larger groups or longer charters, Athenian Yachts has a charter base at Benitses marina with skippered and crewed options, and Ionian Catamarans at Gouvia Marina arranges sailing holidays with catamarans and sailing boats. Prices are generally given on request, so ask each operator directly.
