About this venue
The Tower of Ouranoupoli Museum is housed in the tower of Ouranoupoli, a building erected before the 14th century that belonged to the "Prosforion" dependency of the Athonite Monastery of Vatopedi. The tower building, the barbakas and the arsanas survive today. Its spaces display antiquities from pre-Christian and Christian Chalkidiki, and one section is dedicated to Sydney and Joice Loch, who lived in the tower in the 20th century and offered social work to the residents of Ouranoupoli and to refugees from Asia Minor.
