The War Museum - Nafplio Branch was established in 1988 and is housed in the building that accommodated the newly established Hellenic Military Academy (1828–1834). The Archaeological Museum of Nafplio is stone-built on Syntagma Square, while the National Gallery Nafplion Annex is housed in a neoclassical building on Sidiras Merarchias 23. The National Gallery Nafplion Annex was inaugurated on 8 May 2004 and was renovated and museologically equipped with funding from the Onassis Foundation.
