About this venue
The Holy Church of Agia Sophia, also known as Panagia Odigitria, is a Greek Orthodox church and tourist attraction in Agia Sofia, Monemvasia. It is an octagonal domed church with annexes on its south side, built in the twelfth century. Its sculpted decoration dates to the twelfth century and its wall paintings to the late twelfth and early thirteenth century. Written and oral tradition links the church to Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos.
